T. J. English

T.J. English began his career writing about New York City's criminal underworld, organized crime, and the justice system in the 1980's while driving a taxi at night. He is an authority on the organized crime underworld and the author of six acclaimed nonfiction books, including THE WESTIES: Inside New York's Irish Mob; BORN TO KILL: The Rise and Fall of America's Bloodiest Asian Gang; PADDYWACKED: The Untold Story of the Irish American Gangster; HAVANA NOCTURNE: How the Mob Owned Cuba...and Then Lost It To a Revolution; and THE SAVAGE CITY: Race, Murder, and a Generation on the Edge. His latest work, WHERE THE BODIES WERE BURIED: Whitey Bulger and the World That Made Him, is a finalist for the 2016 Edgar Award for Fact Crime. T.J.'s articles have appeared in Playboy, Esquire, Los Angeles Times Magazine, and Irish America. He is the winner of the 2010 New York Press Club Journalism Award for Best Crime Reporting.
